European and US tours
15 June 2009: Our apologies - we haven't been keeping up. We've been doing some behind-the-scenes work on the dsign of this website and neglecting current events as a result. John, Polly, Giovanni, Eric and Jean-Marc have just arrived in Seattle after playing at Minneapolis zoo. No reports have yet come in from the animals, but apparently Pig Will Not went down well. Dates and venues of all concerts are listed on the Shows page - we'll put links and details in here when we catch up with ourselves. -
Queens Hall, Edinburgh
26 April 2009: The smallest, most intimate venue so far, and possibly one of the best shows - great reviews in the Edinburgh Evening News, the Herald and the Scotsman. -
The Ritz, Manchester
24 April 2009: Another good show, and another warm reception. Manchester's City Life seemed to like it too, though they mistook Polly's Dorset accent for a "posh Devon burr" and thought they were being kind by calling the band "mature". Like a fine cheese or a good whisky, we presume? -
Town Hall, Birmingham
23 April 2009: The Birmingham Post reviewed the show, commenting on the warmth between the band and the audience. -
Shepherds Bush Empire, London
21 April 2009: The second London show - Howe Gelb supported, and apparently Kate Moss attended. -
Shepherds Bush Empire, London
20 April 2009: Howe Gelb supported for a second night. The tireless celebrity spotters noticed Siouxsie Sioux and John's sister Sarah Parish (cleverly disguised with new specs). The London Evening Standard gave a favourable review of the show, cleverly deciding to call John Parish "the hat man", because he wears a hat... We don't think it will catch on. -
Anson Rooms, Bristol
18 April 2009: Supporting act was Howe Gelb, with John drumming on one number. For the fashion-conscious, Polly wore the white dress with a beaded top. Celebrity spotters noticed in the audience some members of Portishead (as well as some residents of the original Portishead) and photographer Maria Mochnacz. Nice review in the Bristol Evening Post. -
Oxford Brookes, Oxford
16 April 2009: Reports just in from Oxford mention a sighting of Terry Edwards in the audience, and that one of John's amps blew up... -
Corn Exchange, Brighton
15 April 2009: Reviews of the opening show of the UK tour appeared in The Independent who found Polly's performance humorous and fun but John's red shirt too 'lurid' (?!) and The Times who found it all deadly serious and dark, dark, dark. The Guardian seemed to enjoy it most, and are the only review to use "avuncular" to describe John. Tom Brosseau supported, you can find more about him here. -
Coming up: UK Tour beginning in Brighton on the 15th April

- John Parish is appearing on BBC Radio 4, Front Row at 7.15pm Weds 1st April. You wouldn't know that from the BBC website though, as they only have eyes for Polly.
